Pokemon Emerald Rogue is an English-based GBA ROM Pokemon hack created by Pokabbie that was last updated around January 2022. Pokemon Emerald Rogue is available to download from our websites.  This is based on the videogame Emerald Roguelike along with the added concept of a Pokemon game but with subtle twists.

Different Version

It is available in two versions: ‘Expanded (Ex)’ and the Basic vanilla

• Expanded(Ex): This version is by far the most recommended to experience all the mods and improvements. The expansion was based on RH-Hideout Emerald. It offers a variety of new skills, abilities, battle features and items, fairy types, and special splits.

• Vanilla: This version is the standard battle feature of the Emerald game where no additional changes are available. A few subtleties are found throughout the game that might be different from the base game.

Pokemon Emerald Rogue Plot

The player will make their progress through a run by completing their adventures, battles, and encounters that will happen strategically. They will land across a Gym leader after crossing a few routes and clearing missions.

In Pokemon Emerald Rogue battles become harder and levels increase as you progress further into your run. Harder setups will be waiting for the player that has been chosen by the trainers and Gym leaders. The player will have to defeat each one of them and lead their way to the championship.

Failing or being unable to win the battle means you will be redirected to a hub where you choose the starter Pokemon and do it all over again from the beginning.

You will also land in the same hub area if you win. Here you have to select permanent items and starter Pokemon as needed for your next run.

The player can use different buildings and game NPCs in the hub region to prepare for their run. It will help them train better and be ready for the upcoming battles.

The end goal of the player is to acquire a Badge.

What is a hub?

The hub is the area where the player will start the gameplay. Here, they can store their Pokemons, purchase items, select/change teams, and more.

The player will select the route they start with after leaving the hub area. These are procedurally placed and generated in the game where the user will come across various Pokemons in different regions.

The player can return to the hub anytime to train and get stronger for battles. 

The timeline

The time taken for a run mostly depends on the player and the techniques used. It can take the whole day or a few hours if they are willing to finish it off sooner. 

The author tested and stated that the complete run would take somewhere around 3-4 hours in-game. It also has a quick save (Rest) option in the menu to take breaks mid-run and return later.

Pokemon Emerald Rogue features

A few features that came with the Pokemon Emerald Rogue update are as follows:

• The routes are randomly chosen for the player
• The items and trainers are procedurally placed 
• The player will come across wild encounters now and then along with rare legendary encounters
• Buildings/NPC (unlockable) in the hub area to train 
• Customize the character and access multiple in-game configuration settings such as trainer mode, difficulty, double battle, etc.
• Seeded mode and Galarian forms
• In-game mega evolution
• The player can capture Pokemons on their runs in Safari mode and use them later as Starters
